UKschools.com is pleased to work closely with UKiset, and to engage UKiset specialist tutors, for our students as part of their application process to the UK's leading schools. Many leading British schools use the UKiset adaptive assessment tests to recognise a candidate's natural academic abilities and who would fit well with their academic standards. These tests also provide valuable evidence of a candidate's academic abilities for parents, and for us as consultants, when selecting suitable British schools.
UKiset is regarded as a positive, beneficial and informative series of assessment tests which enables students from any background and any country to apply to many leading British schools.
UKiset tests are adaptive, meaning that the tests adapt to a candidate’s ability level. The outcomes are given as individual standardised scores, comparing the candidate with students of the same age at British independent and state schools. They also show the ability levels in National Percentile Rankings, in relation to these standardised scores. A score of 5-6 is average with a top score of 9. Most leading schools are looking for high scores of at least 7-9 in each test and with a CEFR English language score of at least a mid-high B2.
The combined evidence of the scores will help identify suitable schools for a candidate and also show areas where further work may be helpful. The assessment can also help parents to understand their child's academic abilities when compared against those of the same age in British independent and state schools. This evidence makes discussions about a family’s aspirations and school choice helpful and constructive.
The non-verbal reasoning tests are targeted on learning potential and not prepared, acquired knowledge.
The Cambridge English assessment, which forms a significant part of the series of tests, gives an internationally recognised (CEFR) language grade with scores that equate to IELTS.
What does UKiset test?

UKiset FAQs
- The UKiset assessment takes about 2 hours
- The tests can be taken at a centre in many cities around the world or at your home or over the internet, with online supervision
- The summary report is usually available in 72 hours (excluding weekends)
- UKiset can be taken from age 9½ to 18 years old
- The assessment scores compare a candidate’s abilities in these tests with British students of the same age at independent and state schools
- The Cambridge English assessment section awards an internationally recognised (CEFR) language grade. The scores can be linked to the IELTS qualification
- Candidate may retake the UKiset tests four months after a previous test
- Schools receive a detailed report which may have slightly different scores from the summary report that parents receive
