King's Bruton
Community, Quality, Success
Located in the beautiful Somerset countryside, King’s Bruton offers pupils an education full of variety and opportunities. Here pupils enjoy a broad and challenging academic curriculum that provides the ideal launch to their next stage of education.

Life at King’s Bruton is full of variety and opportunities, where pupils enjoy a broad and challenging academic curriculum that provides the ideal launch to their next stage of education. With outstanding A Level and GCSE results, students enjoy an exceptional level of success in gaining access to their first choice of university for example Exeter, Bristol, Newcastle and Bath. The school enjoys excellent communication links and with a mainline train station just five minutes’ walk from the school, train transport to London, Bath, and Bristol could not be easier.
At King’s we are committed to providing excellent teaching. Small class sizes and enrichment opportunities are there for pupils, in an environment that helps nurture and promote intellectual and emotional development. Teaching at King’s is innovative and allows for every pupil’s specific needs to be met. Through the promotion of active learning and differentiated approaches to teaching and learning, pupils at King’s make excellent progress and leave thoroughly prepared for life beyond the classroom. The Sixth Form is a time to be ambitious, to aim high and to realise the potential in everyone. We support each pupil in their choices for life beyond King’s and ensure that they are fully prepared for, and ready to step into the demands of the world ahead of them.
At the heart of the King’s Bruton community lie our six boarding houses, each with their own unique identity and nurturing system of pastoral care and support. Overseas pupils account for 12% of our boarding community and are fully supported from the initial enquiry, through to visa application and guidance on choices after King’s. On leaving all pupils are welcomed into the Old Brutonian Association, thus links with and support from the school do not end. All King’s pupils are encouraged to respect themselves and others, to adopt a positive attitude, and to strive to be the best they can be. Pupils leave here confident and fully prepared to contribute to life beyond the school gates.
Extra-curricular activities are broad and far-reaching including a full choir, a large number of musical ensemble groups as well as sports teams that compete in national and international arenas, whilst the 200-seat theatre is the venue for outstanding drama. Over half of our senior pupils undertake the challenging and rewarding Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards and our Combined Cadet Force is one of the oldest in the country.
