Sherborne Prep
Set in the heart of a historic Dorset market town, we are a co-educational day and full and flexi boarding prep school for children aged 3 – 13 years old. We are a school with a big heart. We understand that our pupils’ future success and happiness relies heavily on the foundations we lay during their time with us. By giving them a thorough grounding in values that shape them for life, we help them grow into caring, responsible, thoughtful young people who are ready to write the next chapter in their story.

For us, that means a unique blend of academic rigour, a rich co-curricular programme, and a deep commitment to wellbeing. Pupils chart a personal journey through Sherborne Prep, knowing they will be encouraged and challenged every step of the way.
By putting character education at the heart of our ethos, we pay attention to every single child so every pupil feels an integral part of our wider school community. We want children to enjoy learning, work with purpose and discover what excites them.

Our Core Skills Programme is fully embedded across all year groups – pupils to articulate how they are improving as thinkers, collaborators and leaders at any early age. The Sherborne Prep Qualification (SPQ) exemplifies this ambition. Through extended independent research into real-world issues, pupils develop academic rigour, intellectual independence and moral awareness. Academics are more than balanced with an award winning co-curricular programme where passions are sparked, friendships are forged and confidence quietly builds. Our pupils go on to secure an impressive list of scholarships and awards each year.
We support every child in developing their talents and shaping their own sense of self, while staying grounded and true to who they are. These are important years, and the habits formed here last a lifetime.
Part of the Sherborne Schools Group, our pupils benefit from opportunities shared by our wider family of schools – in particular Sherborne Boys and Sherborne Girls. This gives pupils access to a richer variety of resources and learning opportunities, as well as deepening their sense of belonging.
